Ehrwald lies at the southern base of the Zugspitze, Germany's highest mountain that borders with beautiful Austria. Offering guaranteed snow in the winter months and no less than 207 km of pistes over 9 ski areas, Ehrwald is the perfect resort in which to enjoy a ski holiday, for all levels of skier. With a diverse range of challenges- a total of 74 blue runs, 55 red runs and 11 black runs- you can be sure there is something to suit all abilities. A recent addition to the area, a brand new state-of-the-art six seater ski lift departs from just outside the hotel. A ‘Top Snow Card’ can be purchased and will allow you access to not only the glacier but the seven ski areas on the Zugspitze Ski Circuit, so there is plenty to discover and to be explored.
The Hotel Sonnenburg is located directly on the beginners ski area and is a perfect option for those looking for doorstep skiing. Our 20 guest rooms have a mixture of twin and triple rooms for our individual guests and for families we have rooms which can accommodate up to 5 people per room. There are plenty of facilities in the hotel to ensure that everyone is kept happy on their ski holiday. Rooms are cosy and comfortable and there are a number of facilities on site so that if you are weary after a day on the slopes, you can relax and unwind in your hotel, with no hassle. The hotel has a small wellness area including a sauna, a relaxation lounge, complete with a cosy log fire and a modern-style hotel bar with direct access to our large terrace for those sunny days and warmer spring evenings . To ensure that getting out to the slopes is just as easy as can be, the hotel also provides a ski hire and ski room to help you get ready for a great day of skiing.
